Mobile Youth and Poverty Study

In this research opportunity, students will work with the Data Archivist for the Mobile Youth and Poverty Study and/or other identified faculty, based on the students' interests to create research publications, both manuscripts and conference proposals that explore risk and protective factors for primarily adolescents who grow up in impoverished communities. In many parts of the country, tensions between police and community members are high. Proactive practices, such as community oriented policing, can help to bridge this divide. While the vast majority of police departments state that they engage in community policing, individual police officers are not all supportive of the practice.
