Description

LIXO - LIquid Xenon Optical characterization - is a sensitive experiment conducted in our lab. The LIXO system is currently undergoing upgrade, whose design is largely drive by the UA undergraduate students. One of the several remaining tasks is to design a vacuum-insulated cryostat to house the new system that automatically controls position of a radioactive source and a photon detector during measurements conducted in liquid xenon. Other related sub-projects are also available. Pay or PH495 course credit. Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) is required. [positions during fall/spring are usually initially unpaid, but it depends]
